Our community partners at the local Brooklyn based company, Crop to Cup,
have a new CSA program. It is a part of their “Zero Packaging
Initiative,” through which they cut out the most significant part of
coffee’s waste stream: packaging! Like standard CSA add-ons (meat,
etc), coffee is delivered individually packed per each CSA member’s
order. Their zero-packaging reusable containers are then returned to
Crop to Cup each week. Crop to Cup works directly with 600+ smallholder family farmers and they offer 3 types of coffee Uganda Bugisu (medium roast), French Roast (dark roast), Mexican Decaf (medium dark roast) starting at the regular price of $14.40 per pound online and at the Brooklyn Flea. Crop-to-Cup is offering a GHCSA discount price of nearly 50% off (Uganda Bugisu as an example, will be $7.49 per pound/16 oz). GHCSA is not able to manage the distribution of coffee to CSA members at Habana Outpost. However, at our urging, Crop to Cup will run a Coffee Coop/CSA at the Brooklyn Flea and offer the CSA discount to all GHCSA members! So if you decide to use your member discount, keep in mind that you will need to stroll a few blocks over to the flea on Saturdays to pick it up. They are offering 2 options for signing up for your "GHCSA pricing”. The 2 options for ordering coffee as a CSA member are explained in detail in the FAQ document and the member sign-up form attached below. The main difference between the two options is that if you sign-up for the 'Bean Subscription option' you get an additional $0.50 cent discount per pound of coffee bringing price down to more than 50% off per pound ($6.99 for Uganda). The other option is ‘week-to-week’ ordering which will have the special CSA price as mentioned above. Please check out the attachments for further info. All ordering and payments should be directed to Crop to Cup’s website. |
